Grosse Pointe Shores

The Village of Grosse Pointe Shores is 1.5 square miles and is located in both Wayne and Macomb Counties. Grosse Pointe Shores was incorporated as a village in 1911.

The village of Grosse Pointe Shores is the smallest and possibly the most exclusive of the five Pointes. It is approximately three miles in length and a half mile deep. It borders Lake St. Clair along Lakeshore Boulevard. The homes along Lakeshore Boulevard are some of those spectacular homes in Michigan.

This community was created in 1848, there is much culture, beauty and history located here. The city was incorporated as a home rule village in 1911, and had an approximate population of 350 people. The first era of growth was after World War I, when many large states were built by the industrial pioneers of that era. The second period of growth after World War II, when several other affluent business owners made their residences here. In 1924 the community was zoned exclusively for single-family homes. The only commercial properties that reside here are the Grosse Pointe Yacht Club and the Edsel and Eleanor Ford House. Both are considered landmarks within the community.
