Grosse Pointe Woods is 3.28 square miles and is located in Wayne County. In 1927 Grosse Pointe Woods was known as the Village of Lochmoor; then in 1950 it was incorporated as a city, which today we know as Grosse Pointe Woods.
The City of Grosse Pointe Woods covers 3.28 square miles and is comprised of residential homes, several schools, churches and a retail area located along Mack Avenue. There are several unique shops and fine restaurants here. The city caters to its residents with efficient snowplowing for both the city streets and sidewalks.
The city borders Lake St. Clair in the Southeastern part of Michigan.
There are four parks to see in Grosse Pointe Woods, they are: The Sweeney Park, The Chene Park, The Trombley Park and The Ghesquiere Park.
The city of Grosse Pointe Woods offers the largest lakefront Park consisting of 55 acres. It is located on East Jefferson at the northern border of the Pointes. The park contains a nature trail, the largest swimming pool in the Midwest, a diving pool, waterslide, several tennis courts, a boat marina, concession stand, barbecues and picnic tables.
